We're committed to giving our Elevate students a truly personalised, hands-on mentorship experience.
To honour your journey and provide our full support, we’re limiting Elevate enrolment to just 3 students this intake.

SSBV is designed for photographers with a basic understanding of photography fundamentals, but it's ideal if you have a keen interest in expanding into videography. Here's what you'll need:

Required Equipment
Camera: DSLR or mirrorless camera (must have manual controls).
Audio: A video microphone (shotgun or lavalier) to capture high-quality sound.
Computer: Laptop or desktop capable of running DaVinci Resolve for editing.

Recommended Software
DaVinci Resolve: We use the free version of this powerful editing software for all our editing tutorials and techniques. It’s free to download from the official website, and we recommend getting familiar with it before the course begins.

Optional Equipment
Stabilizing Gear: Tripod, gimbal, or action-cam for smooth and steady shots.
Additional Tools: External monitor for precise editing, video lights for low-light environments, GoPro or action camera for creative shots, and drone for aerial perspectives.

We would recommend allocating at least 60 hours to ensure you get the most out of the SSBV experience.

Pre-recorded lessons range from 1-2 hours/ module (roughly 18 hours).

Integrated case studies, camerawork assignments and storytelling project require an additional 1-2 hours/module for the first 8 modules (roughly 10 hours).

After module 8 the storytelling project transitions into filming and editing which naturally becomes more time intensive. As a guide you could expect to spend 2-5 hours during production and up to 20-30 hours during post-production (roughly 30 hours).

All of our live sessions will be recorded and replays with any links/resources related to that session will be archived on your course player (within 72 hours) giving you access to the session content at a time that suits you.

YES, we cover the technical basics of filmmaking (camera settings, codecs, LOG, gear, audio, lighting, Camera angles and more) AND we also tie the technical basics into how it affects your storytelling!

Did you know that you tell a story with the settings you use? What are you communicating with the frame rate you shoot with, with camera angles and shot movements that you choose to use? EVERY single technical choice and camera movement you make in your filmmaking either adds to your story or distracts from it and we talk a lot about how to minimise distractions so your story can shine :)

Yes, Maybe we’re a bit story crazed, but our whole course tells a story! It has a beginning a middle and an end and walks you through pre-production, production and post production. In the last third of the course we cover the all the basics of editing, sound design and colour grading that you would need to effectively create a birth film (hands up anyone who struggles with picking music?? We are going to do a whole hour on this in one of our upcoming live sessions!).

It’s hands down the storytelling project. EVERY step of the course walks you through your very own storytelling project - this is not a high pressure thing, this is a chance for you to stretch your creative wings, make mistakes and try new things. If you follow the course chronologically you will be guided through the beautiful process of creating your own production while solidifying what you’ve been learning by putting it into practice.

The Elevate bundle has been our most popular membership for good reason. It’s the most hands on for us and we get to track your progress closely, so selfishly we love this membership and highly recommend it because we know first hand how much focus it takes to complete a course and the Elevate membership gives us the freedom to doula you through the process! However, the Plus membership still gives you access to the monthly live sessions so it gives you a chance to check in with us face to face once a month and verbalise any roadblocks you might be encountering and simply just to synergise with other like minded creatives! Our Core membership is for people who know they’re self motivated and will be able to work through the course without the accountability that the Plus and Elevate bundles provide. The Core membership still gives you access to our Facebook community and chat group though (also included in Plus and Elevate), so you still have access to all the extra tips, tricks and tuts we post on there including camera specific YouTube tuts that augment our settings section of the course and any discussions we have around the course content or real world scenarios you guys might be encountering!
