The Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is part graduation part storytelling showcase. Ultimately it’s a celebration—an opportunity for our members to get dressed in something a little bit fancy, connect online, break out a drink of choice, honour our SSBV graduates and showcase the reimagining of keepsake filmmaking that has taken place within our community.
Film Fest invites and submissions come included in all course and community memberships. A submission entitles members to enter a family ‘day in the life’ or birth keepsake film into our annual Film Fest.
Members are entitled to one Film Fest submission. Additional Film Fest Submissions can be purchased and are valid for 10 months from time of purchase.
In keeping with our desire to foster community over competition the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is not a competition but rather a celebration—an opportunity for community members to connect and showcase the reimagining of keepsake filmmaking that has taken place within our community.
The Soulful Storytellers Film Fest not only provides a tangible goal and incentive for SSBV students aiming to complete course content and storytelling project it facilitates an opportunity for all of our members to connect as a community. Our hope is that gathering together online and showcasing members’ filmmaking skills, provides a valuable source of inspiration and encouragement as we look to infuse a gold vibes only mentality that elevates the standard of birth videography.
For SSBV students, the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is not only an opportunity to showcase the learning that has taken place throughout the course, it’s the final step to officially completing the SSBV Course and receiving the Soulful Storytellers Artisan Filmmakers Badge and SSBV Certificate of Completion.
For community members, submitting a film into the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is an opportunity to join in the celebration, showcase their filmmaking and inspire others in the process!
The length and format of Soulful Storytellers' film submissions is fairly open. You can submit a shorter length reel or longer documentary style film. Our recommendation is to try to keep your films under 5 mins where possible. Our overarching guideline is to choose a format that is manageable and is going to give you the ability to demonstrate your storytelling skills and keep your audience engaged!
Films submitted in our Film Fest will be shared with our community and potentially shared online (website and social media) for promotional purposes. For this reason it is important to ensure you have all the necessary permissions and copyrights in place before submitting your film.
Subject: Family ‘day in the life’ and birth keepsake films

Format: Landscape or portrait (reels)
