FILM FEST—Birth Filmmakers SHOWCASE

The Soulful Storytellers annual Film Fest is an opportunity for SSBV students, alumni and members to get dressed in something a little bit fancy, break out a drink of choice and celebrate their hard work and professional development as we connect online and showcase their filmmaking.

Film Fest submissions come included in all course and community memberships and entitle members to enter a family ‘day in the life’ or birth keepsake film in the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest. Additional Submissions can be purchased and entitle alumni and members with the opportunity to join in the festivities at future Film Fest celebrations, showcase their filmmaking and inspire others in the process!

  • Who can submit films in the SSBV Film Fest?

    Film Fest invites and submissions come included in all course and community memberships. A submission entitles members to enter a family ‘day in the life’ or birth keepsake film into our annual Film Fest.

  • Can members submit more than one film?

    Members are entitled to one Film Fest submission. Additional Film Fest Submissions can be purchased and submitted in future Film Fest celebrations

  • What are the parameters or guidelines for a SSBV Film Fest submission?

    Submissions can be birth or family—'day in the life' keepsake films. The length and format is fairly open. Submissions can be shorter social reels/teasers or longer documentary style films. Our recommendation is to choose a format that is manageable and is going to give you the ability to demonstrate your filmmaking skills and keep your audience engaged!

    Film Fest submissions will be shared with our community and potentially online for promotional purposes. For this reason it is important to ensure all the necessary permissions and copyright are obtained before submitting your film.

    Format: Landscape or portrait (social reels / teasers)
    Export size: Under 2 GB where possible

    In keeping with our desire to foster community over competition the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is not a competition but rather a celebration—an opportunity for community members to connect and showcase the reimagining of keepsake filmmaking that has taken place within our community.

  • What is the purpose of the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest

    The Soulful Storytellers Film Fest not only provides a tangible goal and incentive for SSBV students aiming to complete course content and storytelling project it facilitates an opportunity for all of our members to connect as a community. Our hope is that gathering together online and showcasing members’ filmmaking skills, provides a valuable source of inspiration and encouragement as we look to infuse a gold vibes only mentality that elevates the standard of birth videography.

  • Why submit a film into the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest?

    For SSBV students, the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is not only an opportunity to showcase the learning that has taken place throughout the course, it’s the final step to officially completing the SSBV Course and receiving the Soulful Storytellers Artisan Filmmakers Badge and SSBV Certificate of Completion.

    For community members, submitting a film into the Soulful Storytellers Film Fest is an opportunity to join in the celebration, showcase their filmmaking and inspire others in the process!
